coffee trends

With each passing year, coffee becomes more and more of a social phenomenon. One great way to share an authentic coffee experience with your friends and family is with tasseomancy - the ancient art of reading coffee grounds. Here are some helpful tips to get you started.
  1. The necessities. All you need is a fine-ground coffee (like espresso) and a white cup with sloping sides (like a teacup) with a saucer.
  2. Step by step. Prepare your coffee as usual in your Mr. Coffee® Coffeemaker and then add a spoonful of grounds to your cup when your coffee is almost gone. Then, place the saucer on top of your cup. Shake the cup and then turn it upside down in the saucer to drain the remaining liquid. Turn your coffee cup right side up and look inside.
  3. Describe what you see. After scrying (reading) the inside of the cup for distinct shapes, the next step is to interpret what you see. Below are a few symbols and their meanings:
    Apple - achievement
    Bird - good news
    Cross - suffering, sacrifice
    Dog - good friend
    Elephant - wisdom, strength, luck
    Fish - good fortune
    Grapes - happiness
    Heart - pleasure, love, trust
    Horseshoe - good luck
    Knife - broken friendship
Ladder - promotion, a rise in life
    Letters – refers to names
    Numbers – span of time
Question mark - need for caution
Snake - an enemy, but also wisdom
Star - health and happiness, hope
    Tree - improvements
    Waterfall - prosperity
