4 coffee drinks to get you through tax season
Taxes can be stressful, especially if you wait until the last minute to do them. It takes time to gather up all your paperwork, from W-2s to receipts, and you'll need a lot of energy and focus to get it all taken care of. You might need a little extra help in the form of some tasty coffee to get you through. Amp up your usual or opt for a whole new drink to keep you going until you finally file your taxes.
1. Red eye
As you work on your taxes, your regular coffee might not be enough to keep you awake and filing. To give yourself an extra kick and some tasty flavor, consider enjoying a red eye. Break out the Mr. Coffee® Cafe Barista to make a delicious shot of espresso. Pour it into a cup of freshly brewed coffee and enjoy!
2. Thai iced coffee
Do you love coffee but want to try something with a bit of a twist? Give Thai iced coffee a try. This tasty beverage requires strong coffee, so add some extra grounds to your coffee maker before brewing a regular pot. Dark roast is the most authentic version, but if you prefer a light roast you can try that instead. Place some ground cardamom into the coffee filter along with the grinds so it is brewed into the drink. Once the coffee maker is done brewing, add some sugar and almond flavoring to the hot liquid. Mix it and let the coffee cool to room temperature. When you are ready to enjoy, place ice cubes in a sealable bag and crush them. Pour the ice into a glass and fill it 2/3 full of the coffee. Then, add in one tablespoon of heavy cream and enjoy. The extra spices provide a delicious kick and you'll love sipping away as you make progress on your taxes.
3. Hot Mocha steamer
With the right equipment, you can make a delicious mocha steamer just like you'd order at a cafe from the comfort of your own kitchen. Start with filling your Mr. Coffee® Cafe Barista with your favorite espresso and adding milk to the milk reservoir. Place an eight ounce mug under the grouphead. Since you're using the Mr. Coffee® Cafe Barista, you won't have to steam the milk separately. Simply add milk to the reservoir, stir in a teaspoon of cocoa, some sugar and a splash of vanilla extract - and voila! A sweet take on coffee that will keep you energized through all your paperwork.

4. Sparkling coffee
Carbonated water is a major trend right now and has taken a permanent place in kids' lunch boxes and parents' work bags. Why not combine your favorite caffeinated beverage with some bubbles? The first choice is what sort of bubbles do you want? If you are committed to a pure coffee flavor, opt to add strong iced coffee or espresso to regular sparkling water. For a more soda-like taste, add cherry cola or even root beer to your morning brew. The bubbles will help wake you up and get you started and the caffeine will keep you going for a few hours.
Another way to ensure you're tackling your taxes with the right energy is to enjoy a good breakfast to go with these drinks. Some tasty whole wheat toast plus a few eggs and some fruit are great sources of fiber to give you the energy you need to take care of those taxes online or on paper.
