The scientific reason for the cloudiness of tea is the precipitation of the tannins in the tea that occurs when the tea is cooled. Cloudiness does not affect the flavor of the tea.
- Stronger brews tend to cloud more readily than weaker ones.
- High quality teas cloud faster than others.
- Hard water also has a clouding affect on tea
Add a small amount (1/4 cup) of boiling water into the brewed tea to help reduce the amount of cloudiness.
