How to Celebrate National Teddy Bear Picnic Day as an Adult

Chances are that you have some of your old favorite stuffed animals tucked away at your parents' house. If the toys were especially sentimental, they may have even made the move with you to your dorm or apartment. Whatever the case, the point is that you have access to some teddy bears - and it's just in time for National Teddy Bear Picnic Day.

As an adult, some might consider it odd if you grab your favorite teddy and head outdoors for some food and sunbathing. Fortunately, we've devised a few ways you can justify it to your friends without feeling too weird - and you might even get them to attend!

Serve Coffee
Teddy bears might be for kids, but coffee sure isn't. Whip up a fresh batch of java using your Mr. Coffee® Smart Optimal Brew™ 10-Cup Programmable Coffee Maker with Wemo® and the event is bound to be anything but childish. You can show off the cool features of the device by setting it to brew using your smartphone or tablet, and you'll have enough coffee for all of your friends.

Invite the Kids
If you have younger nieces, nephews, cousins or siblings, this is a great opportunity to get them involved. Invite them along, and tell them to bring their favorite stuffed animal with them. They'll love being included in the festivities - just don't serve them any coffee. Pack some tea or juice in your basket for the kids, and save the java for the adults who will likely need an energy boost to keep up with them.

Like drinking coffee, multitasking is another activity that isn't typically performed by many kids. Make the event less about sitting with your stuffed animals and more about getting things done. Work on your tan, read a book or finish up some work outdoors while you celebrate the holiday.

Rename It
Really, a teddy bear picnic is just another excuse to get outside and enjoy the day. Refer to the event whichever way makes you feel most comfortable. Is it an "enhanced luncheon?" An "outdoor appreciation of food and toys?" Whatever you decide to call it, just be sure to pack some tasty snacks and drinks and surround yourself with great company.
