How To Have A Coffee Date At Home

  • Share

Going out for coffee is a popular idea for a first date. It's a great, low-risk and low-cost way to get to know someone a little better. But after the first date, if you've gotten to know the other person better, you might want to consider inviting them over to your place. But what if you don't just want to sit around and watch a movie? There's another option! If you want to do something unique with your date, consider having an at-home coffee rendezvous. You'll get to have your date all to yourself, and it's more fun to make coffee together. This is also a great idea for established couples that want to go for a date but don't want to change out of their pajamas.

Start With the Set Dressing
For a little extra fun, you can convert your kitchen into a little cafe scene. Put a small vase of flowers on your table and turn down the lighting for a more intimate feel. For something a little cozier, you can move the cafe into the living room. Plump a few pillows and open a window to let in the fresh air. Next, choose your music. For a classic coffeehouse vibe, select a jazz or classical playlist. Acoustic songs work well too - just pick something that's pleasant, relaxing and won't overpower your conversation. After all, the best part of the coffee date is the chance it gives you to talk.

On that note, you should definitely power off your cell phone or at least turn it to a silent mode. Even though you're at home, you should give the other person your undivided attention.

Pick Your Coffee Line Up
Try to have a few coffee brewing methods and a selection of recipes. Consider using easy, automatic coffee makers that create the café experience at home, like the Mr. Coffee® Cafe Barista for delicious espresso-based coffee drinks, or for bold taste, the Mr. Coffee® Electric French Press will certainly impress your date. For the latter, you'll also want the Mr. Coffee® Milk Frother on hand to make those specialty drinks like lattes and macchiatos for lots of frothy foam.
