Make Your Own Vanilla Sweet Cream Iced Coffee
It seems that every couple months or so a new coffee beverage becomes the trend. Cafes both small and large break out all the stops to create delicious new coffee drinks that woo caffeine lovers. You, too can enjoy these tasty drinks, but without the high price tag and cost of leaving home. Use your Mr. Coffee® Optimal Brew™ 10-Cup Programmable Coffee Maker with Thermal Carafe to create one of these popular drinks, the vanilla sweet cream iced coffee.
- Your favorite coffee grounds
- 14 oz. sweetened condensed milk
- 1 tbsp. vanilla extract
- 16 oz. cream
This very simple recipe will seriously liven up your iced coffees. Instead of a hot cup of joe in the morning, make a vanilla sweet cream iced coffee the night before so it's all ready for sipping when you begin your day. To get started, use your Mr. Coffee® Optimal Brew™ 10-Cup Programmable Coffee Maker with Thermal Carafe to brew your coffee. Once the coffee is brewed, pour it from the carafe into a pitcher to be placed in the fridge. Let it sit overnight. You can also stash your favorite glass in the fridge or freezer so it's chilled and ready for the next day.
In the morning, simply combine the sweetened condensed milk with the cream and one tablespoon of vanilla extract in a mixing bowl. Use a whisk to combine until fully blended. Using your pre-chilled glass, add a handful of ice cubes, keeping in mind that the more ice you add, the more diluted your coffee may taste as it melts. (Pro tip - use some of that cold coffee to make ice cubes ahead of time. As they melt, they won't water down your beverage.) Pour in some coffee and top it off with the sweet cream mixture. Use about as much as you would if you were using regular coffee creamer to start. For a sweeter drink, make more of an au lait, or half coffee and half cream.
This drink is simple, and if you store the cream separate from the coffee you can enjoy a large pitcher of it throughout the week. Just be sure to keep the cream in a container with a lid, like a pitcher. It's the perfect beverage to make the night before a party or brunch gathering.
For those who want to take a healthier route or are on a diet, consider swapping out the cream for unsweetened milk or non-dairy milk to avoid unnecessary calories or fats. You can also use vanilla flavored liquid Stevia in lieu of vanilla extract and sweetened condensed milk. Whether you alter the drink to better fit your diet or enjoy it as listed above, you'll be glad you tried your hand at creating a simple yet decadent beverage at home.
