Care & Maintenance
Make sure the control knob is in the “Off” position. Fill water measuring cup to the 4 cup mark with fresh, undiluted white household vinegar. Add vinegar to the water reservoir. Brew just enough to get some vinegar to come out. Steam just enough to get some vinegar to come out, then unplug the machine. Allow appliance to sit overnight with the vinegar solution in the water reservoir. Discard vinegar through the top opening of the espresso maker by turning the machine upside down over the sink. Rinse the water reservoir thoroughly with tap water by filling tank half full with water and then pouring the water back out into the sink, repeating this step twice. Brew and steam with fresh water at least 4 times or until you do not smell any vinegar.
Once every 1 to 3 months depending on usage and the type of water, we recommend that you delime your machine to keep it working properly.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love this machine I love how easy this machine is to make espresso drinks at home. The only issue I have with the machine is where you put the expresso in when you put the cup back into the top where the filter is it lines up kind of hard. the steamer works great it does take a couple minutes to heat up but after it's heated up and works great there is a good amount of tank where you can fill with water. I have used this machine quite a few times and I can make expresso drinks lattes macchiatos anything like that just like I do at work I currently work at a Dunkin Donuts store and it tastes just about the same. thank you mr. coffee for putting out such a good product.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great for the price I obtained this for free to test. We enjoyed using this machine as we are avid coffee drinkers and my husband loves espresso. When you look at the actual price of this machine, it is relatively cheaper than other similar items which means it is a little bit more basic. The frother cannot be removed to clean but everything else you use can easily be cleaned. It’s easy to use as long as you have a coffee grinder. We actually bought espresso pods made for another machine. We just opened it up and used the contents of each pod since we do not have a coffee grinder. Overall, great product for the price!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic Value The Mr. Coffee Steam Espresso Maker makes it easy to enjoy cafe quality beverages at home without the effort or expense. Just add water and coffee grounds and you’re ready to go! Mr. Coffee works immediately without the need to prime the system like other comparable espresso makers. Quickly, you have delicious espresso to drink, either on its own or mixed into your favorite cafe beverage. The steam wand can froth milk easily for anyone of any skill level. Overall, a quality product well worth the investment and certainly a better value than similar espresso systems. This product was provided for free for use and review.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Worked great at first! My wife bought this machine less than a month ago, at first it worked great and she loved it. Slowly over the next couple weeks it started take longer and longer to brew, now it will only brew 2 cups when set up to do 4 cups and it takes about 10 minutes to get it to that point.we were very meticulous with cleaning after every use as instructions stated.we are very disappointed with this product and would not waste the $40 that we spent on it ever again

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Skip the coffee shop! Mr. Coffee Espresso Maker was very user friendly, the taste of the drinks made were easily comparable to a coffee shop for a fraction of the price. The wand creates the perfect amount of foam for cappuccinos or lattes. Espresso is brewed without loose grounds ending up in the drinks and clean up is very easy. I received this product for free and was eager to put it to use. I used it at home multiple times and even brought it to the office to be able to have additional drinks while at work. Very pleased with the product, I used just the espresso brewer and made an iced cappuccino that was amazing. Great product!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Grest little machine! This little machine really makes a good espresso and cappuccino after you get the hang of it! The directions did not seem 100% clear so it took a few times to get the hang of using it, but once I did I really enjoy using it and not having to go spend extra money on cappuccinos at the coffee shops. I am sure there are some other tricks I have not learned yet, but one I have learned was to fill up the water regardless of how much you are making to ensure you don't run out. For the small amount that you pay for this machine it really does a good job and can help alleviate the trips to go out and spend way more. It is definitely worth having! I received this product for free to review.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from worked great; slows down making espresso over tim i bought this about a year ago and it worked great ive done all the cleaning like the manual stated but the pressure now doesn't seam like its up to the task any more. it use to take about 2 and a half mins to brew an espresso now it can take up to 4 or even 5 min depending on how much water i put in it. im now looking to buy something else besides mr coffee Espresso maker . ive always love the products mr coffee has made over the years i still use my mr coffee coffee maker i had just out of college and its stood up to almost 20 years of use. ive even had to buy new pots for it do to my fault but this espresso maker is disappointing to say the least. i would have a friend buy this though if they were on a budget but maybe get a better model.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great little machine I am writing a review for the Mr Coffee espresso machine that I received free for completing this review. I honestly really like the idea of this machine, but find it hard for me to fix an espresso that I like and taste right. I can never get a consistent taste when I make a latte for instance but it's probably just user error. I also like bigger cups of coffees and not the tiny cup that comes with it. I really do think it is a great looking machine and I love the concept but it just isn't for me.

Remove the water reservoir cap.&#13;&#10;&amp;bull; For 2 or 4 servings of espresso, fill the glass carafe with water to the appropriate&#13;&#10;mark and pour into water reservoir.&#13;&#10;&amp;bull; If making a cappuccino or latte, fill glass carafe with water up to the steam&#13;&#10;mark and pour it into the reservoir.&#13;&#10;&#13;&#10;&#13;&#10;2.Screw cap back onto water resevoir.&#13;&#10;&#13;&#10;ESPRESSO PREP:&#13;&#10;1. Scoop your finely ground espresso into the portafilter.&#13;&#10;&amp;bull; For 2 servings of espresso, fill filter to the 2 cup line located inside the portafilter.&#13;&#10;&amp;bull; For 4 servings of espresso, fill filter to the 4 cup line located inside the portafilter.&#13;&#10;2. Lightly tamp/press down the espresso in the portafilter by&#13;&#10;pushing down with the back of the measuring scoop/tamper.&#13;&#10;(If tamped too much, the water will not go through the espresso.)&#13;&#10;3. Insert the portafilter into machine. The handle should be pointing&#13;&#10;directly at you when standing in front of the machine.&#13;&#10;&#13;&#10;TIME TO BREW AND FROTH:&#13;&#10;Note: If making a cappuccino or a latte, follow steps 1-8.&#13;&#10;If you are making an espresso, follow steps 1, 2, 7, 8!&#13;&#10;1. Place the glass carafe with lid onto the drip tray and under the&#13;&#10;portafilter. Make sure the lid opening is aligned with the pour&#13;&#10;spout of the glass carafe.&#13;&#10;2. Plug in the machine and turn knob on the left side of the machine&#13;&#10;to &amp;ldquo;Brew&amp;rdquo;.&#13;&#10;3. Pour in your desired amount of cold milk into a stainless steel frothing pitcher (or&#13;&#10;ceramic mug), but allow enough room for expansion of the foam (typically 1/3 or 1/2 of&#13;&#10;the top). Do not use the glass carafe!&#13;&#10;*Frothing texture is highly dependent upon the milk type used. 2% is recommended;&#13;&#10;whole milk creates finer bubbles while skim milk creates larger bubbles.&#13;&#10;4. Once the coffee begins to brew into the glass carafe,&#13;&#10;interrupt the brewing process by turning the knob to&#13;&#10;&amp;ldquo;Off&amp;rdquo;, place your stainless steel frothing pitcher so that the&#13;&#10;frothing wand is submerged about 1/2 -1&amp;rdquo; into the milk.&#13;&#10;5. Turn the knob to &amp;ldquo;Steam&amp;rdquo;. This will take a few seconds&#13;&#10;to heat up before bubbling. You should hear the steam&#13;&#10;coming out. If it is silent, it may mean you are out of water&#13;&#10;and no steam is coming out. If this happens, remove the&#13;&#10;cup from the frothing wand.&#13;&#10;When you hear steam coming out, move the pitcher in a&#13;&#10;circular motion until desired amount of froth is reached.&#13;&#10;*It takes about 2 minutes to froth 4 oz. of milk to 165˚F&#13;&#10;heat.&#13;&#10;6. Before removing the frothing pitcher from underneath the&#13;&#10;frothing wand, turn the knob back into the &amp;ldquo;Brew&amp;rdquo; position&#13;&#10;to complete the brewing process.&#13;&#10;7. When the espresso finishes brewing, turn the knob to the&#13;&#10;&amp;ldquo;Off&amp;rdquo; position and unplug the machine.&#13;&#10;&#13;&#10;&#13;&#10;BUILD YOUR CAPPUCCINO OR LATTE:&#13;&#10;1. Grab your favorite drinking mug.&#13;&#10;2. Then pour the espresso into your drinking mug.&#13;&#10;3. Finally, pour froth into your mug, then stir and enjoy.&#13;&#10;*A latte has less foam and more steamed milk than a cappuccino. A cappuccino has 1/3&#13;&#10;of espresso, 1/3 of steamed milk and 1/3 milk foam whereas a latte has 1/3 espresso, 2/3&#13;&#10;steamed milk topped with milk foam. <div class="bvseo-author">Answered by: MrCoffeeSupport</div> <div class="bvseo-pubdate">Date published: 2021-07-15</div> </div> </div> </div> <script type="text/javascript"> if (document.getElementById('bvseo-questionsSection')) { document.getElementById('bvseo-questionsSection').style.display = 'none'; } </script> <!--end-questions--> <!--begin-pagination--> <ul id="bvseo-paginationSection"> <li class="bvseo-paginationItem"><a class="bvseo-paginationLink" href="https://www.mrcoffee.com/espresso-machines/steam-espresso/mr.-coffee--caf%C3%A9-20-ounce-steam-automatic-espresso-and-cappuccino-machine-silver/SAP_BVMCECM270.html?bvrrp=Main_Site-en_US/questions/product/2/SP_544009.htm">Mr. Coffee&reg; Caf&eacute; 20-Ounce Steam Automatic Espresso and Cappuccino Machine Questions - page 2</a></li> </ul> <!--end-pagination--> <ul id="BVSEO_meta" style="display:none!important"> <li data-bvseo="bvDateModified">y_2021, m_9, d_18, h_20CST</li> <li data-bvseo="ps">bvseo_bulk, prod_bvqa, vn_bulk_3.0.19</li> <li data-bvseo="cp">cp_1, bvpage1</li> <li data-bvseo="co">co_hasquestionsanswers, tq_17</li> <li data-bvseo="cf">loc_en_US, sid_SP_544009, prod, sort_[SortEntry(order=LAST_APPROVED_ANSWER_SUBMISSION_TIME, direction=DESCENDING)]</li> <li data-bvseo="diagnostics">clientName_mrcoffee-jcs</li> </ul> <!--end-bvseo-questions--> <ul id="BVSEOSDK_meta" style="display: none !important;"> <li data-bvseo="sdk">bvseo_sdk, dw_cartridge, 18.2.0, p_sdk_3.2.0</li> <li data-bvseo="sp_mt">CLOUD, getContent, 0ms</li> <li data-bvseo="ct_st">questions, product</li> </ul>
