Rated 1 out of 5 by Disgruntled coffee lady from Poor design and construction The center piece, which allows you to remove the pot to pour a cup before the brewing is complete, is held in place by a small, flexible plastic piece which has a nasty habit of coming off. As it is quite small and clear in color it could easily be lost (I very nearly did). The basket on the previous 4 cup pot had an additional metal washer that held the center piece firmly in place. I inquired about getting a few of the plastic washers to have for backup but was told that I had to buy the whole basket. Needless to say I am not pleased with your "cheap" new 5 cup design. And the opening to the pot is too small to get a hand in to scrub the insides.

Rated 2 out of 5 by Magnolia22 from Not thrilled I just bought this coffeemaker less than a week ago, and like many others here have said, I am already having a problem with the brew basket. While I was cleaning it, the center piece with the spring and valve at the bottom of the basket came apart, and the little piece that holds that together and attaches it to the basket, went down the drain and is gone. I've had Mr. Coffee coffeemakers for many years now, and have never had a shoddy piece as this before. I've ordered a replacement brew basket through another online parts service. We'll see how long that one will last. The coffeemaker itself seems, so far, to work just fine. Note to the Mr. Coffee people....This needs work. Not happy.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Phyllis1941 from Replacing coffee brew basket. I bought the coffee pot just about a year ago and the plug in the center bottom . It sometimes will not work properly...causing the water to over flow and make a real mess to clean up. I do keep my pot and filter clean on a daily basis..am sorry that i bought it...but do to living on a very fixed income I just can not go out and replace with in a year ....so will hope that getting a new brew basket it will be good for at least a year OR longer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by MikeB3 from Perfect fit I bought a replacement basket for my 5-cup coffee maker. I was concerned because I thought the picture didn't look right online but I checked with customer service with their online chat service and confirmed it would work. And it did!

Rated 3 out of 5 by Kudu2 from Valve gave out I've had the 5-cup JW series coffee maker for 4 months. Worked perfectly until now, when the valve at the bottom (which allows you to remove pot for 30 secs. while brewing) came apart. Tried reassembling and it worked for a week or so but came apart again. The thread is worn, so plug (which works on a spring) won't stay inserted into the body of the basket. The picture here appears to show a washer on the inside of the basket. But don't think mine had one. Diasspointing.

Rated 2 out of 5 by Boulderhills from Common occurrence? I haven’t had any issues with the brewer other than the brew basket. As others stated, the middle peice can easily come apart during cleaning and become lost. The parts are so poorly made, no wonder it is sold for cheap, and as a way to make money off of individuals by having to constantly replace this part.
