Rated 1 out of 5 by from Scratched easily I'm just so perplexed how we can launch spaceships but can't make a perfect pan... I got this pan as a warranty replacement item for my old pan that was 10+ years old. Construction: it is very heavy and seems to be well built. However - the lid handle gets hot which is likely because the insulation is not designed properly. Also - to my surprise - with hand washing and using plastic/silicon utensils - the coating has developed scratches within 2 months. Since it is a teflon product - scratches are a reason for concern so I will be switching to ceramic products from now on. The problem is that Calphalon does not offer a comparable pan in a ceramic coating - this one is 13" and deep which is perfect for large meals - and the largest ceramic version seems to be only 12" and much shallower.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Deep fry pan, rounded sides, limited burner area! This coating with "Mineral Shield" is my very favorite non-stick available today. Not ceramic but and advanced multilayer coating that IS ACTUALLY NON-STICK!!! I'd have given 5 stars but I expected a wider flat cooking surface than that we got in our two separate 12" fry pans. I do like the deeper rounded sides but the flat cooking contact surface un this 13 inch fry pan is only 8 - 8.5 inches. Our 12" fry pan has 9 inches of flat cooking surface.

However, when I went back to the website to order a smaller one for our kitchen, I realized it is made with PTFE, better known as TEFLON, which is made with compounds considered forever chemicals that are possible carcinogens.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Warps easily. Would not buy again. Have a glass stovetop and it warped within the first use of heating up. (I let it cool naturally - I do not throw under water as soon as I'm done cooking.) Has gotten progressively worse over time. Warps at the bottom center so maybe a gas stove where it might be "cradled" (for lack of a better term) might work better. It cooks ok, and the non stick has lasted for a year so far, but as far as even cooking it doesn't happen. Also, I see it's unavailable now so that might be why...

Your phone number states to hold for return numbers yet you never ever get a real person, and never get a reply from emails other than a phantom reference number from a one time email. Never to hear from you again. I have been using Calphalon for over 25 years. I would have thought you would have had better customer service. But I see you have the same pat answers here, I wasted good money, on a non stick pan where EVERYTHING I cooked stuck and burned.

The founded edge walls made it a little more difficult to scoop meat up on the spatula, but it helped during the cleanup process, so I would consider that even in pro/con on the design. The flat surface heated evenly and brazed the meat well. The associated cover worked well, as the dish did not have significant height. If I were to offer criticism on the shape of the cover, I would have domed it slightly to allow for items that have more height in the center. The non-stick surface seems to be sturdy, didn't have a lot of trouble staying non-stick through the cooking process, and it cleaned up well.

While a touch heavy, this cookware is very sturdy and flat, heats evenly and is very non-stick. Don't use metal utensils with this cookware, but you will be very happy with these things, we are.

I used it twice the first week I got it. It made great Lo Mein, and worked fine for a very large amount of cranberry relish. It is not too heavy. I’m sure I will be using it often. It cleans up easily. Highly recommend.

After about 9 months, the non-stick coating stop working and the paint at the outer top started peeling. This is my 2nd 13-inch calphalon deep skilled. My first 13 inch deep skillet lasted me over 5 years. I love it so much I bought another. The state of this 2nd skilled is much worse than my 1st. Very disappointed and it's an expensive pan. I'll have to search for another brand of similar design.
