Water is not getting to the grounds in the portafilter and is spilling every where. What can I do to fix this?

These are the possible causes why the espresso does not come out on your espresso maker. &bull; No water in water reservoir &bull; Coffee grind is too fine &bull; Too much coffee in the filter &bull; Appliance not turned on or plugged in &bull; Coffee has been compressed too much Please see the basic troubleshooting steps below. &bull; Add water to water reservoir. &bull; Grind coffee less fine. &bull; Fill portafilter following instructions on &ldquo;espresso grounds prep&rdquo; on your manual &bull; Plug in power cord. &bull; Refill portafilter with espresso ground coffee and GENTLY press down. Your Mr. Coffee&reg; Steam Espresso Maker has a 1-year limited warranty.
