Care & Maintenance
Make sure your coffeemaker is unplugged and has cooled completely before cleaning. Remove the brew basket, filter carafe, carafe lid, and wash them in a solution of hot water and mild liquid soap, and dry thoroughly.
Minerals (calcium/limestone) found in water will leave deposits in your coffeemaker and affect its performance. It's recommended that you regularly remove these deposits using vinegar.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Terrible New Designed Coffee Maker I just bought the 12 cup simple brew maker and have to say this new model is terrible. Reason's 1- The pot/ pops every 30-45 seconds soundslike a gun going off, the metal band on the pot must be getting hot and popping, wakes up my daughter. 2- The new design lid on the pot now drops water on the floor when you go to pour the coffee. The condensation must be building up on the lid and goes everywhere. 3-The new lid to the water reservoir also holds a lot of condensation and water builds up there also and have to get a paper towel to wipe it off when you open the lid. The old design was so much better than his new one.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poor design!!! We have had 3 of the basic Mr.Coffee makers in the last 15 years. This by far the worst design you have ever made. It’s impossible for a left handed person to fill. When you lift the lid all the condensation runs under the grounds basket and leaks onto the hot plate. Also the basket filters very slowly. Takes 8-10 minutes to make 8 cups. Your design engineers should use there product before they put it out for the market. Your basic model was always a reliable machine. The first one we had last 13 year and the only thing wrong with it was we chipped the pot washing it. The last two we have had less than 2 years combined have been a big disappointment. The one before this one the warming plate split after 1 yrs use. Please bring back the old standard model.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect for Google Assistant We need a simple coffeemaker with a toggle switch. We like to set up the coffee the night before and then tell Google assistant to start the coffee before we even get out of bed. We soon found out our fancy schmantzy coffeemaker didn't work for this purpose because it turns out that when power is applied to an electronic switch, it doesn't turn on. This simple coffeemaker is perfect. We can even have it start at a specific time if we want by programming Google to start it automatically. We've been using it daily for a year or two.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not for Left-handers Why in the world would you change the design so the water reservoir opens to the left??? No left-hander can fill this; even turning the entire machine to the side results in the reservoir filling being obstructed by the grounds basket. The old, open front to back, easily fill from either left or right was perfect. This is terrible. What about the people who don't have use of their right arm at all??? Complete fail here. Complete, blind, thoughtless re-make.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A Decent Simple Coffee Maker for the Price We have had a couple of the Simple Brew 12-cup Makers over the years. I am left-handed but don't seem to have an issue with filling the machine, although it does baffle me that you switched to a side-lift. A rear lift seems more universal. We make one-to-two 10-cup pots during the day. Occasionally, we have had issues with the grounds getting into the pot, but this is seldom a problem. The pot pours well and doesn't drip. For the price, we think this is a pretty good coffee maker, and we appreciate not having to fool with a clock or other gadgetry. We get a decent cup of hot coffee and we're happy!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from What happened to the great machine of years past? I have loved the basic Mr. Coffee for ages! In fact, I have converted some Braun users to is. So recently, once my Mr. Coffee died, I purchased a new one. This model. But it's not the same. The coffee is too weak--no matter how much coffee I put in. And I can't make a large pot because the basket can't take all the coffee. I don't know what was done, but it doesn't matter what brand of coffee I use or what filter, it just doesn't do it. I'm so disappointed!! The older version worked really well!! The old version wasn't broken, so I don't know why Mr. Coffee "fixed it" with the "updated" version. I feel for the left-handed folks having problems with the water system. I know it's inexpensive, but it worked just fine and tasted much better than Braun and some other brands who's coffee I have tried.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from smelly and can't make a full pot of coffee If I could give this product even less stars than one, I would. I bought this coffee maker 2 weeks ago to replace another Mr. Coffee product. First of all, it small stongly of melted plastic when it was turned on. Then, if I made a full pot of coffee--12 cups, as advertised, I ended up with a lot of grounds in the pot. Even with making only 10 cups, I still get a lot of grounds in the pot. What a waste--you could not drink all of the coffee--so much went down the drain!!! I bought a 12 cup coffee maker to get 12 cups--I can't even get 10 cups of clean coffee. We usually brew at least 2 pots of coffee a day. I did have the same type of problems with the previous Mr. Coffee as well. I was hoping that this coffee maker would be better. I live in a very small town so my options are limited as to what I can purchase. But, I have been using Mr. Coffee products for over 30 years--NEVER AGAIN!!! I will be driving over 100 miles just to purchase a new coffee maker. It will NOT be a Mr. Coffee. I can not understand how a product that I swore by for so many years would be so problematic with the last 2 coffee makers that I purchased. I put up with the last one but, this one will be going back to the store!!!!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Teflon coating loss after only a few months of use I bought this pot as a replacement for my mom's 15 year old one as a gift at Christmas. When I visited her the other day, I noticed the Teflon coating on the hot plate was off in a large area near the front, and had started rusting. It's only been used for 5 months! Cheap!
