DIY Peppermint Mocha Coffee
This version is just the right amount of sweet, with a cool wisp of peppermint and rich chocolate flavor thanks to a combo of Dutch cocoa and dark chocolate.

Ingredients:
Peppermint Mocha Syrup:
- 8 ounces whole milk
- ½ cup granulated sugar
- 1/3 cup Dutch-process cocoa powder
- 1 teaspoon pure peppermint extract
- 4 ounces dark chocolate, finely chopped
Mocha:
- Ground coffee
- 4 ounces whole milk
- 3 tablespoons peppermint mocha (to taste)
- Cocoa powder, for dusting (optional)
Instructions:
Peppermint Mocha Syrup:
- Combine the milk and sugar in a small saucepan set over medium-low heat. Heat, stirring constantly, until the sugar dissolves. Add the cocoa powder and chopped chocolate and whisk until chocolate has melted and mixture is smooth.
- Remove syrup from heat and whisk in the peppermint extract. Strain into a jar or other container, cover, and refrigerate. Stir or shake before using.
Mocha:
- Brew hot coffee in your Mr. Coffee coffee maker according to the machine instructions.
- Heat and froth the milk and peppermint mocha syrup together with a milk frother. Alternatively, you can combine in a jar, shake until frothy, and microwave for 30-60 seconds, until hot.
- Add ½ cup of hot coffee to a mug and top with frothed milk. Dust with cocoa powder if desired and serve immediately.
